Don't Date These 4 Types Of Men. You'll Regret It…

I've coached women on dating since 2013, and in that time I've listened to a lot of women describe a man they were three months into and still unsure about.

Here's the thing about those three months.

The signs were almost always there in the first three weeks. She just didn't have names for them yet, so they didn't register as signs. They registered as small things she'd think about later.

There are 5 of them. Every one shows up early if you know what you're looking at. Let's go through them.

1

The Pace Is Fast And It Never Turns Into Depth

He texts constantly. He's warm. Two weeks in it feels like something is really happening.

Then you notice you still don't know much about him.

Not the surface facts. Those you have. What you don't have is anything real. What he's worried about. What went wrong in the last one. What he's actually working toward.

Volume is not depth, and a lot of men use the first as a substitute for the second because it costs them nothing.

Ask yourself a simple question around week three. If a friend asked what he's like, could you answer with anything other than how he makes you feel?

2

He Talks About A Future He Never Puts In A Calendar

He mentions the trip you should take. The restaurant he wants to bring you to. Meeting his sister when she's in town.

None of it ever gets a date.

This one is hard to catch because it feels wonderful in the moment. Someone is picturing you in his life. That lands, and it should.

But write this down and keep it somewhere you'll see it. A man who wants something plans it. A man who wants the feeling of wanting it talks about it.

The tell isn't that he mentions the future. It's that you've heard about the same trip three times and nothing has been booked.

3

After Week Three, The Effort Is All Yours

Early on he was reaching out. Now look at the last two weeks honestly.

Who starts the conversation. Who suggests the plan. Who reschedules when something falls through. Who reaches out after a quiet couple of days.

If the answer is you almost every time, something has already shifted, and it shifted the moment he stopped needing to.

Men become attached to what they put effort into. That isn't a game or a rule, it's just how it works. A man who has never had to reach for you hasn't had the chance to get attached to you.

And the longer it runs that way, the more normal it feels to both of you.

4

He's Vague About The Parts You'd Need To Know

Where things stand with his ex. Whether he's dating anyone else. What he's actually looking for.

You've asked, in a light way, once or twice. And each time the answer arrived soft and slightly out of focus, and the conversation moved on before you got anything solid.

That is not shyness. Men are perfectly capable of being direct about things they want you to know.

Vagueness in those specific areas is a choice. He's keeping options open, and staying blurry is how he does that without having to lie to you.

5

He's Wonderful In Person And Unreachable In Between

Every time you see him it's good. Genuinely good. You leave feeling reassured.

Then five days go by and you hear almost nothing.

So you spend the gap trying to work out which version is the real one, and the in-person version always wins, because that's the one you can feel.

Here's the harder read. The gaps are the honest part. Anyone can be present for three hours across a table. What a man does when you're not in front of him is the closest thing you get to the truth about where you sit in his life.

Here's The Part Almost Nobody Says Out Loud

You probably recognised more than one of those.

And here's the uncomfortable bit. There's a good chance you recognised them last time too, early, and kept going anyway.

That's not because you're careless. Most of the women I speak with are the opposite of careless. They're sharp, they read people well, and they'd spot every one of these in a friend's relationship inside five minutes.

So why does it keep happening?

Because there's a pattern in how you date that decides which men get through in the first place. It runs before any of these signs show up. It's been running for years, and nobody has ever named it for you.

There are four of these patterns. One of them is yours.

What this looked like for one woman Stephanie told me she had a type and hated it. Every man she'd been drawn to in six years had been some version of the same person, and she'd started to think there was something wrong with her judgement. What she found was that it wasn't judgement at all. It was one specific thing she'd been reading as chemistry since she was nineteen. Once she could see it, she stopped losing whole evenings to men who were never going to show up. Her words to me: her dating life got so much lighter.

I put together a short quiz that names which of the four is running for you. Seven questions, about 60 seconds, and your result comes with what it means and what to do next.

If you're tired of meeting men who look promising and end the same way, this is the place to start.

Not with another list of warning signs. You already see the warning signs. With the thing underneath them that decides who gets through the door in the first place.
